Part 12. Polimaster launches real-time automatic data transmission
In the previous section, we discussed Polimaster's introduction of the first personal radiation detector (PRD) with Bluetooth as a standard feature. This was our upgraded PM1703MO-1BT model, which featured a Bluetooth module for wireless communication with smartphones, tablets, and other devices. This innovation greatly improved the PRD’s capabilities, enabling real-time data transmission, remote monitoring, and easier data management and analysis, making the PM1703MO-1BT an adaptable and user-friendly option for professionals requiring dependable radiation detection and monitoring.
In 2015, Polimaster also launched a new wireless automatic data transmission technology for the PRD PM1703MO-1BT. This technology allowed the PRD to connect via Bluetooth 4.0 to iOS® or Android™ smartphones using Polimaster’s proprietary free Polismart® mobile application. The device, combined with the app, enabled users to send PRD data and GPS coordinates to their network for real-time monitoring, tracking, and data management.
The Polismart® App was designed to offer users enhanced insights and radiation exposure analytics, providing features such as real-time measurement viewing, instrument setting adjustments, adding photos to recorded waypoints, recording GPS-referenced measurements, uploading stored measurements to the user’s phone, sending the measurement history over the Internet, and viewing device information (serial number, hardware, and firmware version, battery charge level).
This technology was successfully showcased during a live exercise with the Federal Emergency Management Agency’s (FEMA) RadResponder Network at the National Radiological Emergency Preparedness Conference in Sacramento, CA. This proven technology has also been integrated into Polimaster’s PM1605BT dosimeter for firefighters. In subsequent years, Polimaster introduced additional PRD models and other devices with similar networking capabilities.
