Part 16. New RadFlash®dosimeter gives real-time readings at your fingertips
It is well-known that medical professionals who work with radioactive sources are exposed to significant health risks, including cancer, tissue damage, and genetic mutations. For them, it is vital to monitor their exposure in real-time to reduce the risks and avoid adverse consequences. However, after extensive consultations with doctors, radiologists, and angiography specialists, Polimaster identified a critical issue: many healthcare workers depend on passive dosimeters that do not provide immediate feedback, resulting in delayed revealing of harmful radiation exposure. Prolonged overexposure can lead to severe health complications, making real-time dosimetry essential for continuous monitoring and prompt protective measures.
As a result of close cooperation and consultations with practicing medical staff from different areas, in 2020, Polimaster unveiled the RadFlash® Electronic Personal Dosimeter—a revolutionary tool tailored for professionals who regularly encounter X-ray and gamma radiation. This cutting-edge dosimeter is a game-changer for anyone in high-risk environments, such as medical personnel, including radiologists and surgeons, laboratory researchers, and security officers. The RadFlash® offers precise, real-time radiation exposure monitoring, ensuring safety is never compromised during critical operations.
Equipped with a highly sensitive Geiger-Muller counter, the RadFlash® can detect a wide range of radiation doses, from the faintest traces to significant levels, making it incredibly versatile. It not only measures personal dose equivalents but also monitors the rate of exposure with impressive accuracy. With the capacity to store up to 6,000 events and customizable visual and audible alarms, this device keeps users constantly informed and protected.
Beyond its technological prowess, the RadFlash® is designed for ease of use and durability. Its lightweight and compact build, single-button operation, and wireless charging capability make it user-friendly, while its rugged construction—boasting IP67-rated protection against dust and water and tested drop resistance up to 1.5 meters—ensures it can withstand the demands of any environment.
What truly sets the RadFlash® apart is its adaptability. It functions seamlessly as a standalone device but also integrates effortlessly into more complex dosimetry systems, including real-time dosimetry systems from third parties. By pairing it with the free Polismart® App for iOS and Android via Bluetooth, users can manage readings and settings on their smartphones or tablets. Moreover, when used with the PoliRead™ Automated Personal Dosimetry System, it simplifies data management across organizations, ensuring safety, compliance, and peace of mind.
This dosimeter is not just a tool—it’s a comprehensive solution for radiation safety, tailored to meet the unique challenges of today’s high-risk environments.
