Part 8. Strategic Partnership with TECHAWK
The year 2008 marked a significant milestone when Polimaster entered into a strategic partnership with William F. Hawk Consulting, Inc., known commercially and doing business as TECHAWK. This collaboration with TECHAWK, a U.S. Service-Disabled Veteran-Owned Small Business specializing in government scientific equipment, has been instrumental in enhancing national security.
William F. Hawk, the founder of TECHAWK and a distinguished former U.S. Army Lieutenant Colonel, retired in 1992 after 31 years of commendable service. Hawk, a graduate of SUNY Albany, the University of Tampa, and Georgetown University, has applied his extensive military and academic background to government consulting since 1992. His expertise was pivotal in acquiring a GSA contract to supply the federal government with Personal Radiation Detectors, significantly impacting homeland security readiness.
Reflecting on the partnership's beginnings, Hawk recalls meeting Polimaster’s representative at a conference initially aimed at securing international business. Despite the initial project's direction not materializing as intended, the meeting laid the foundation for a lasting business relationship. Mr. Hawk’s strategic suggestion to bring Polimaster products to a GSA schedule catalyzed a series of successful federal engagements, starting with a notable contract from the U.S. Coast Guard, facilitated through the Department of Homeland Security [Source: DHS GOV].
“Together, Polimaster, Inc. and William F. Hawk Consulting, Inc. (dba TECHAWK) have been a great match,” said Bill Hawk, the founder and President of TECHAWK. “We have provided the USCG and other federal and state agencies with thousands of Polimaster products.”
Over the years, this partnership has not only yielded substantial contracts but has also equipped various U.S. military branches and state governments with critical radiation detection solutions. Mr. Hawk also commented, “I was aware of nuclear terrorism only through the limited training provided by the Army during my military service. Thanks to Polimaster, I now have a deep understanding of CBRNE concerns and that Rad/Nuc terrorism has become a global threat.”
